Greg, responsável pelo blog Pixar Talk, resolveu perguntar a Pete Docter o porquê das suas escolhas de aspect ratio 1.85:1 para Monsters, Inc e Up. A resposta foi rápida e achei muito interessante a explicação de Pete Docter, pois nem eu entendia muito sobre o assunto. Aqui fica a transcrição:“Aspect ratio, like any other choice in making a film, has an effect on the audience and how they perceive the story. For A Bug’s Life and The Incredibles, spectacle was a key part of the experience, hence the choice to go widescreen. Though both Monsters and Up also have grand vistas where scale and movement is important, I wanted a more intimate feel overall - especially for Up, which has some tender emotional scenes. I also felt that 1.85:1 is more friendly to comedy (not that there aren’t films that are funny in widescreen)."
Ficou de certa forma fascinado como os realizadores fazem este tipo de decisões segundo a perspectiva têm sobre o seus filmes. Pensando no que Pete Docter disse, estes aspectos são realmente fundamentais e conseguem mesmo ser importantes na visão artística do realizador. Um parágrafo que me deu muito prazer ler!
